DALLAS –Advertising is key to any business and the Dallas College School of Business, Hospitality and Global Trade is looking to elevate students into careers in this field, particularly in social media.
Dallas College is sponsoring“Locals in Advertising,” a panel of marketers who will discuss creating and running advertising and marketing campaigns, best practices and brand strategies. The event is virtual and takes place at Tues., April 13 at 11:30 a.m.via videoconference.
This “Success! Pop-up” lecture is part of a series of one-hour online career explorations, according to Wade Hyde, who teaches marketing at Dallas College El Centro’s School of Business.Marielle McGregor, assistant director for campaign strategy for Dallas College, will host the event.
The four panelists are associated with Ad 2 Dallas, an American Advertising Federation (AAF)-sponsored organization for young Dallas area marketers. They are:
- Braylond Howard, who has crafted copy for theTracyLocke Advertising Agency. A self-described “Copy Samurai,”he has participated in campaigns for Pepsi, Google, the Marcus Graham Project’s Alumni Board and others. He is also a volunteer writer for Ad 2 Dallas and the Humanity Lab.
- Cassandra Villarrea’s passion begins with building powerful, long-term relationships and advocating for inclusivity. She is an active member of Facebook’s largest affinity groups – Latin@ and Latin@ATX. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington and holds agraduate degree in communications.
- Jessica Tran is the collaboration coordinator at The Butler Bros., a creative branding agency in Austin. She handles client relations with Texas Children’s Hospital and Collegeboard. Her previous clients include Home Depot and MetroPCS.
- Monica Saunders, a graduate of the University of North Texas’ Mayborn School of Journalism, is director of digital client services at Tandem Theory. She also promotes employee engagement by leading the agency’s Culture Club. She takes pride in building meaningful connections. During her leisure time, she likes to dance and hike.
