Duncanville Crews Respond to Sanitary Sewer Overflow

Duncanville, TX – The Duncanville Public Works Department is currently undergoing clean-up, remediation, and disinfection of a Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) that occurred in the City of Duncanville wastewater collection system on January 30, 2025, caused by weather conditions and heavy rainfall January 29 and 30, 2025. The overflow affected Mauk Branch Creek and Ten Mile Creek Tributary 11, located near:

  • 300 Block of S. Venice Dr.
  • 700 Block of Forest Ln.
  • 400 Block of Falling Leaves Dr.
  • 400 Block of S. Alexander Ave.

The City of Duncanville is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents, and we continue to comply with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requirements regarding wastewater discharge. In the event of a spill over the threshold limit of 100,000 gallons, our crews actively work to mitigate any impact and take laboratory samples at various points along the creek once the sanitary sewer overflow has completely subsided. To date, there have been no reported fish kills or significant environmental harm.

Persons using private drinking water supply wells located within 1/2-mile of the spill site or within the potentially affected area are advised to use only water that has been distilled or boiled at a rolling boil for at least one minute for all personal uses including drinking, cooking, bathing, and tooth brushing. Individuals with private water wells should have their well water tested and disinfected, if necessary, before discontinuing distillation or boiling.
