ERIC D. BARNETT, a beloved son, brother, father, and friend passed away on November 4, 2024, in his hometown of Fort Worth, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on March 18, 1968, Eric was a vibrant spirit who brought joy to the lives of those around him, with a personality was fun-loving and generous. He had a unique ability to light up a room and make gathering memorable, often leaving laughter in his wake.

Throughout his life, Eric faced challenges but remained a strong and determined individual. His educational journey took him through O.D. Wyatt High School and Polytechnic High School, culminating in his achievement of a GED in 1989. Though he was disabled, he refused to let that define him, instead finding ways to embrace life fully.

One of Eric’s fondest pastimes was watching football; it was a ritual that connected him to friends and family, building bonds over the cheers and excitement of the game. He especially relished eating at his grandmother’s house, where each meal was not just nourishing but also a celebration of family, warmth, and togetherness.

Eric’s proudest accomplishment, “Having a saw,” reflects his hands-on nature and perhaps speaks to his love for crafting and creating. It encapsulates the essence of who he was: resourceful, inventive, and always eager to make things happen.

He is survived by his devoted sister, Bobbie Barnett Thomas, and his loving brother, Vernell Barnett Jr., as well as his cherished son, Eric Barnett Jr. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves behind loving nieces, nephews, and grandchildren who will carry forward his spirit.

Eric now joins his deceased family members, including his mother, Barbara Barnett, father, Vernell Barnett, and brothers, Anthony and Michael Heath, who are surely welcoming him back with open arms.

A viewing will be held on November 13, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home and Cremation located at 5701 East Loop 820 South, Fort Worth, TX 76119. The funeral service will take place the following day, November 14, 2024, at 1:00 PM, also at Golden Gate Funeral Home and Cremation.

In this time of loss, we remember Eric D. Barnett for his unwavering spirit, the love he shared, and the indelible mark he leaves on our hearts. May his memory be a source of comfort and joy to all who were fortunate enough to know him.To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of ERIC D.
