OLIVER BIGGS JR, a beloved figure known for his kindness and unwavering faith, passed away on October 27, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. Born on March 9, 1948, in Tyler, Texas, he graced the world with warmth and compassion for 76 years.

Oliver’s life was a tapestry woven with love for his family. He relished gatherings, where laughter resonated like a joyful melody, especially during the holidays. His commitment to his family was profound, treating each moment together as a cherished memory.   His proudest accomplishments were the children and grandchildren he nurtured and inspired throughout his life, leaving them with an enduring legacy of love and strength.

Education was one of the foundations upon which Oliver built his remarkable life. He graduated from Emmett Scott High School in 1966, embarking on a journey that led him solidly into a rewarding career at Raytheon (formerly Texas Instruments) for an admirable 45 years, marking a dedicated presence in the workforce.

A true friend and a beacon of light, Oliver was often known by affectionate nicknames like “Twist” or “Big O.” His infectious positivity enveloped those around him, creating an atmosphere of joy and solace wherever he went. Those who were fortunate enough to know him will remember his kindness and compassion, qualities that defined his honorable character and radiated in every interaction.

In addition to his dedication to family, Oliver found joy in hobbies that brought happiness and community into his life. He adored dancing, his movements imbuing freedom and exuberance, and often shared his voice joyfully as a member of the church choir. Oliver was an avid sports enthusiast, gracefully navigating the landscape of live games and scores, and he cherished the tranquility of golf. His love for playing dominoes brought friends and family together, echoing laughter shared over countless games.

Oliver will be remembered and celebrated in a two-part tribute. A viewing will take place on November 1, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. The celebration of his life will continue on November 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Greater New Zion Baptist Church, also in Dallas.

As we gather to honor the life of this incredible man, may we carry forward his legacy of light, love, and unyielding devotion to family. He may have departed from our sight, but Oliver Biggs Jr’s spirit will forever illuminate our hearts.
