The line was long and the place was packed as many braved the Texas heat to show support for United States Representative Colin Allred who is running against Senator Ted Cruz for the United States Senate. The Women for Allred Kickoff event was held at South Side Ballroom in Dallas, Texas on Aug. 24, 2024. In addition to Allred addressing the audience as the final speaker, others included his wife, Alexandra Eber, Kate Cox, the Zurawski plaintiffs, Texas State Representative Julie Johnson, former Miss Texas Averie Bishop, local OBGYNs and American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) Vice President Cheryl Eliano.
