Joseph Carter (August 25, 1951 — April 10, 2023)

Joseph Carter

Joseph Carter born to Marzug and Mildred Carter Shakir August 25. 1951 in Houston, Texas. He grew up in the Third Ward and Sunnyside communities of Houston where he received his primary school education in the Houston public school system.

As a youth, he professed his faith in JESUS CHRIST as his Lord and Savior. Later the family relocated to Fort Worth, where Joseph graduated from Como High School.  He was a member of  The Como Lions Basketball team.

Joseph worked for The Pullium pool service on Camp Bowie Boulevard. He later began employment with the Street Division of The City of Fort Worth. Joseph retired after 28 years employment.

A quiet man, Joseph delighted in spending time with his grandchildren. His favorite pastime was taking them fishing along with his son, Joseph Garrett. Still a lover of  basketball, Joseph enjoyed watching the sport on television, without a vowed allegiance to any one team. But chose The Dallas Cowboys as his favorite franchise along with tv western movies.

Joseph was predeceased by his parents and his sister Ruthie Ceaser.

At 1:30 PM on Monday, April 10, 2023,  surrounded by his family, Joseph ” Truck ” Carter Stepped Into The Light of Eternity.

Cherishing the warmth of his memory are his children Joseph ( Natasha), Anthony, Ashala, Dashawn and Frank  Garrett and Ashaia Sturges; grandchildren Nevaeh Sturges, Tajuan and Taisha Sturges; sisters Shirley Ann Carter and Debra Woods ( David) a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends and  Denise Young, his good neighbor.
