In his working years, he was employed by GTE and later by Verizon, building a career through steady effort and perseverance.
He also carried a lifelong love for basketball. During his school years, Dwight started for Irving High School basketball, an accomplishment that remained a proud part of his story. His enthusiasm for the game stayed with him throughout his life, and basketball remained one of the many things he truly loved.
Dwight knew how to enjoy life in full color. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan through and through, cheering on his team with the kind of loyalty and passion that made game days an event all their own. He loved music, loved to dance, and brought that same upbeat energy into the moments he shared with family and friends. Whether the conversation turned to sports, a favorite song came on, or there was a reason to celebrate, Dwight was often right at the heart of it, making the occasion more fun simply by being himself.
More than anything, Dwight will be cherished for the many roles he held in the lives of others. He was a father, a grandfather, an uncle, a cousin, and a friend. Thornton Fwy, Dallas, Texas 75224. A funeral service will take place on September 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Shady Grove CME Church, 3547 Gilbert Road, Grand Prairie, Texas 75050. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
