With broken hearts but eternal gratitude for his vibrant presence, we remember and honor the life of Melvin John Ambrose Morgan, who passed away on August 11, 2026, in Mansfield, Texas. Born on May 13, 1997, in Dallas, Texas, Melvin’s journey on this earth was distinguished by remarkable warmth, an indomitable spirit, and an unwavering love for those around him. His story, though far too short, is one of boundless generosity, laughter, and a profound ability to connect with everyone he met.
Melvin spent his early years in Duncanville, where his charisma and unique personality were evident to all. A proud graduate of Advantage Academy in Grand Prairie, TX, Melvin moved to Jersey City, New Jersey shortly after graduating from high school and attended Hudson County Community College. During his time in New Jersey, Melvin lived with his oldest sister Amber and his brother-in-law Derrick; he worked as a salesperson at Addidas and was very active, fun, and involved in his nephew Dylan’s life. He carried the lessons and connections from his school days into every corner of his life. Melvin’s natural wit, infectious humor, and trend-setting ways made him unforgettable; to know him was to love him. He was clever, charming, charismatic, and possessed a knack for making others feel accepted and valued. Fiercely non-judgmental, he loved freely and protected those dear to him with both ferocity and tenderness.
A proud United States Marine, Melvin displayed honor, courage, and commitment throughout his service to his country. His family remembers his immense pride in being a Marine—a role that shaped his dedication, sense of responsibility, and relentless drive to do right by others. After his service, Melvin continued to make a mark as an auditor for Hyatt Hotel in Rockwall, TX, where his diligence and knack for details earned him great respect.
Melvin’s passions filled his life with a special vibrancy. He reveled in anime, traveled whenever he could, and found joy in gaming, skating, reading, working out, and catching movies. Comic conventions brought out his playful side, and his enthusiasm for Japanese cuisine and cooking adventures made many gatherings memorable. From quiet moments with a book to lively discussions about the latest in pop culture, Melvin’s curiosity and zest for life left a lasting impression.
The impact Melvin had on his loved ones cannot be overstated. He leaves behind his devoted mother, Gwendolyn Morgan, and his loving sisters, Ashley Morgan and Amber Harrison. His memory will be cherished by his nephew Dylan Harrison and brother-in-law Dr. Derrick Harrison, as well as his caring uncles Bobby Body, Michael Body, Troy Morgan, and Keith Morgan. Melvin’s guiding presence endures in the hearts of his grandparents, Melvin Morgan and Ida Morgan, along with his cousins and friends who were like family.
Though we mourn his loss, Melvin now joins his father, Melvin Morgan; his grandmother, Shirley Ann Lindsey; and his great-grandmother, Erma Jones, who preceded him in death. The bonds he shared with those here and those gone before remain unbroken, woven into the very fabric of cherished memories.
To all who called him son, brother, nephew, grandson, cousin, or friend, Melvin will be remembered for his unwavering love, courage, endless laughter, and the gentle strength with which he moved through life.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the viewing on August 20, 2026, from 12:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas, TX. A funeral service will follow the same day at 7:00 P.M. at Freedom Missionary Baptist Church, 3715 South Westmoreland Road, Dallas, TX. On August 21, 2026, Melvin will be laid to rest at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX, with burial services beginning at 9:30 A.M.
