KARMELO ANTHONY IN COLLIN COUNTY FOR COURT HEARINGS

Karmelo Anthony is back in Collin County ahead of two post-conviction court hearings scheduled for August 19 and 20. According to information provided regarding his custody status, Anthony was returned to the Collin County Jail on a bench warrant ahead of the proceedings.

Karmelo Anthony is back in Collin County ahead of two post-conviction court hearings scheduled for August 19 and 20. According to information provided regarding his custody status, Anthony was returned to the Collin County Jail on a bench warrant ahead of the proceedings.

The August 19 hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. and will address the defense’s request to recuse Judge John Roach Jr. A hearing on Anthony’s motion for a new trial is scheduled for August 20 at 9 a.m.

Anthony was convicted of murder and sentenced to 35 years in prison. Supporters have also organized a “Purple Unity” campaign encouraging people to wear purple during the two days of hearings.
