DeSoto, Texas — DeSoto Independent School District invites students, families, staff, alumni and community members to celebrate a historic milestone with the official ribbon cutting ceremony for Sharon R. Sternes Collegiate Academy, formerly known as Early College High School.
The ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2026, in the Sharon R. Sternes Collegiate Academy gymnasium, located on the former DeSoto High School Freshman Campus.
The event commemorates the official renaming of the campus, approved by the DeSoto ISD Board of Trustees during its Feb. 21, 2025, meeting. The new name honors the enduring legacy of Sharon R. Sternes, whose dedication to education and commitment to student success have made a lasting impact on generations of DeSoto ISD students and families.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will feature remarks from district leaders, community members and invited guests, followed by the official dedication of the campus.
Community members are encouraged to attend this memorable occasion as DeSoto ISD celebrates a new chapter while honoring a legacy of excellence that will continue to inspire future generations of Eagles.
