As summer ends and academic prep classes ramp up, there is excitement for the new school year. Whether your child is entering kindergarten or 12th grade, each school year offers a fresh start.
For example, Dallas ISD students return to the classroom on Tuesday, August 11. A Back-to-School Fair is hosted on Friday August 7 from 8am to 2pm at Fair Park where families receive free backpacks, health and dental screenings, haircuts, vision exams, and more.
Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson highlighted this event as a critical community staple, noting it is the largest fair yet with more vendors and resources.
When asked about the event’s mission, Mayor Johnson said, “Together, we’re making sure children across our city begin the school year ready to learn, grow, and succeed.”
According to Learn Well Services, there are three steps to prepare for a successful school year. The first step in preparing for the new school year is to get organized. Create a schedule for your tasks and make a checklist of everything you need before school starts. While most schools provide a list of required school supplies, it’s always a good idea to restock any supplies that have run low. This includes pens, pencils, notebooks, and other essentials.
One or two weeks before the first day of school, make sure that you have bought your uniforms and clear your calendar so you can rest and recharge. For high school students, it’s important to be realistic about time and to use a planner to mark out blocks of time for each assignment.
A suggestion from Child Mind Institute suggests getting a big wall calendar at Amazon and hanging it in your room.
