Coffee keeps people going, and it is especially needed amidst the hustle and bustle of Dallas. Soe say Dallas has grown into a “coffee city,” with a shop on every corner. But when does an abundance of coffee become too much caffeine and competition?
Understandably, coffeelovers in Dallas have their preferred coffee shop, and luckily there are tons of shops to choose from. Once delicious and local Texas coffee shop is Summer Moon Coffee, which features specialty drinks and pastries and is frequented by coffee lovers around Dallas.
Summer Moon is a Texas-based chain with locations throughout the DFW metroplex, including locations in Midway Hollow, Frisco, Keller, Fort Worth, and Celina.
Megan, a barista at the Summer Moon Midway Hollow location, shared a little about her time working at Summer Moon.
Something she loves about working at Summer Moon is that “the owners really take an initiative to come and visit each shop, even though we’re a chain and we’re pretty big.”
Although Summer Moon has multiple locations throughout Texas, they all roast their coffee beans in Texas oak, which as Megan says, “puts a little bit of home into our coffee and what we do.”
Each day at Summer Moon, more new faces come in and ask about their specialty coffee drinks. Megan says that “keeping it fresh and new every week,” like introducing matcha, has brought many new customers to their location.
Dallas coffee shops represent communities. Bishop Arts has more artistic shops than Lakewood’s more relaxed ones. For example, La Reunion in Bishop Arts District serves delicious coffee drinks by day and creative cocktails by night, compared to the popular White Rock Coffee in Lakewood that has been a homey favorite to many for years.
Additionally, the shops are about more than just coffee. Many Dallasites visit coffee shops for studying, remote work, job interviews, and other meetings. Coffee shops prove that there is an increased demand for community spaces in Dallas.
Community is built around repetition and coffee shops support that. Baristas who care about their customers and regulars who visit each morning help to build a community built around the beans.
