Derrick Johnson, president and CEO of the NAACP made a stop in Dallas for the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives convention, July 24-28.
As the organization of some of the top law enforcement execs in the country celebrated its 50th anniversary, Johnson and several others, including Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, Dr. Frederick D. Haynes III, and NOBLE founder Johnnie Johnson, Jr., the first Black Chief of Police of Birmingham, AL joined President Renee Hall at the Hyatt Regency Dallas as the organization also celebrated the 25th anniversary of its youth organization.
Hall, who is a former Dallas Police Chief, turned over the gavel to Mitchell R. Davis, III, Chief of Police for the Village of Hazel Crest, IL.
Johnson provided a history lesson as he stressed the importance of working together for “We the People” which was the theme for this year’s recent NAACP Convention.
