Dallas Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Maxie Johnson announced a new partnership with Volunteers of America Texas, that would significantly impact citizens of his district.
On Tuesday, Councilman Johnson discussed the $2 million in Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funding that will support critical home repairs for qualifying District 4 homeowners. This investment, he said, will improve housing conditions, allow residents to safely remain in their homes, preserve existing neighborhoods, and strengthen communities throughout District 4.
By working with the City of Dallas Housing Department , he said they identified an additional $300,000 to assist homeowners whose previously approved home repairs, were never completed after former contractors failed to perform the work.
The City of Dallas Housing Department will work to confirm eligibility. This additional funding will allow those long-delayed home repairs to move forward, ensuring these residents finally receive the assistance they were promised. Additionally, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Johnson will announce that $4 million has been secured for the historic 10th Street community. These funds will be used for critical infrastructure improvements, including streets, sidewalks, and lighting, helping improve safety, accessibility, and the overall quality of life for residents.
“District 4 deserves investment, not neglect,” said the Councilman. “We are delivering real results by bringing resources directly into our neighborhoods.
