Founder of Afro Sheen and a trailblazer in developing hair care products for Black consumers with marketing that reinforced the pride of our culture.

In October of last year, Bronner Bros. honored Mr. Johnson with the Legacy Icon Award for his innovation and dedication to African American Hair Care.

From his South Side headquarters, George E. Johnson built more than a successful company; he created a lasting example of Black excellence, pride, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

His family reports that he passed from natural causes at his Downtown Chicago residence. He was 99 years old.
