As a professional self-employed barber, Don Wayne built not only a career but also meaningful relationships with those he served. His passion for his craft was matched by his love for the outdoors, where he found solace and joy. An avid sports fan, he cheered with enthusiasm for the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, and Texas Rangers, embodying the spirit of his beloved city.

Don Wayne was a man of diverse interests who embraced wellness and mindfulness through meditation and yoga, practices that nurtured his spirit. His generosity extended beyond his personal pursuits as he devoted time to mentoring young men, guiding them with wisdom and compassion.

He was known to enjoy the simple pleasures in life, with fried catfish and banana pudding being among his favorite meals—a reflection of his warm and hospitable nature.

The community will have the opportunity to honor Don Wayne’s memory during a viewing at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas, located at 4155 S R. L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75224, on June 14, 2026, from 12:00 noon until 6:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on June 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM at ST JOHN CHURCH UNLEASHED, 1701 West Jefferson Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75051. Don Wayne Mitchell Sr.’s legacy is one of love, mentorship, and community. He leaves behind a foundation of cherished memories and enduring influence upon all who had the honor of knowing him. His life, marked by humility and dedication, serves as an inspiring example to all.
