OBIT: JIMMIE LEE TODD

Jimmie Lee Sumler Greening Todd, age 83, died on March 3, 2026, in Dallas, TX. Jimmie was born on July 23, 1942, in Crossett, Arkansas, to Roy and Leola Sumler. She was her mother’s third child out of eight children. She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age. As the eldest daughter, Jimmie learned to cook, nurture, and care for others at the age of nine.

After graduating from Oak Grove High School in Rosston, AR, and briefly working for Leaf Brand candy company in Chicago, Illinois, Jimmie married Alvin Greening. To this union one child (LaTonya) was born. Later in life she would marry her second husband, Reverend Kenneth Todd, her high school sweetheart. Reverend and Mrs. Todd were married 13 years until he passed away in 2017. The couple were members of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Camden, Arkansas where Jimmie is affectionately known as Mother Todd.

Possessing a true servant’s heart and Christian example, Jimmie faithfully cared for family and friends by cooking delicious meals and always being of service when anyone became ill or just needed her help. Jimmie loved to cook, read the bible, listen to music, complete word search puzzles, and spend time with family. Jimmie possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around. Her unwavering faith in God, along with the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through her 5-year battle with kidney disease. Yet even throughout her own health struggles she provided a sounding ear to others and never complained about her own challenges.

Jimmie will be remembered for many things but mostly for strength, kindness, resilience, love, and faith.
