OBIT: DARRYL CLIFFORD BADIE IV

Darryl Clifford Badie IV was born on April 4, 2005, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Darryl Clifford Badie, Jr. and Selina Crawford Badie. He was a child born with purpose and carried with intention, the only surviving child of his parents and a blessing deeply cherished by his family.

Darryl accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized on January 20, 2013, at the age of seven, at Grace Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastor Joe Oakley. Throughout his youth, Darryl remained actively connected to the church, participating in various youth-focused ministries and activities. His involvement reflected a foundation of faith, discipline, and respect that remained present throughout his life.

Born in New Orleans, Darryl was only five months old when Hurricane Katrina forever changed the course of his family’s life. Though too young to remember the storm himself, its impact shaped the trajectory of his upbringing, marking a childhood influenced by displacement, transition, and resilience. Through these early changes, Darryl grew into a young man grounded in faith, family, and an understanding of responsibility beyond his years.

Darryl received his education in Texas, attending Louise Cabiness Elementary School, Della Icenhower Intermediate School, and James Coble Middle School. He later graduated from Venture High School, where he continued to grow into a young man guided by loyalty, quiet determination, and a desire to do better and be better.

Darryl leaves to cherish fond and loving memories his devoted and praying mother, Selina Badie Warren (Joe Nathan); his sister, Makeyah Weeden (Brian) of Slidell, Louisiana; his grandmother, Joyce A. Pratt of Grand Prairie, Texas; his godparents, Dr. Sequilla Carter (Yolanda) and Kristen Scott (Christopher) of Ellington, Connecticut; Everett Badie of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Joseph Guss of New Orleans, Louisiana.

He also leaves his beloved girlfriend, Jakiyla “NuNu” Surles of Euless, Texas; an honorary brother, Zamarion “Dice” Hassell of Dallas, Texas; an honorary sister, Damisha Pitts of Clinton, Louisiana; and an honorary godmother, Ivette Ortiz.

He is further survived by one niece, Miya King of Slidell, Louisiana; two nephews, Masaan Washington and Brian King, Jr., both of Slidell, Louisiana; four uncles, Steven Badie, Troy Badie, Adam Crawford (Denise), and James Crawford, all of New Orleans, Louisiana; two aunts, Brenetta Badie and Jaime Crawford, also of New Orleans, Louisiana; along with a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who loved him deeply.

Darryl was preceded in death by his father, Darryl Clifford Badie, Jr.; his brother, Darryl Clifford Badie III; his grandparents, Darryl Clifford Badie, Sr. and Betty Badie Watkins; and his great-grandparents, Roland and Doretha Jasmine Badie, Herbert and Elizabeth Johnson, William Henry Adams, Sr., and Inez Smith Nolan.
