As the City of Arcola continues working to stabilize and modernize city operations after years of internal political turmoil, the City’s historic all-female leadership team says they are pushing forward despite facing what they describe as targeted intimidation, harassment, and deliberate misinformation. Focused and forward-looking, the City’s historic female-led administration remains undeterred in its mission to deliver progress, growth, and service to its residents.
Across the country, women in positions of authority have often faced disproportionate challenges, including harassment, intimidation, and attempts to undermine their leadership. So too have the women of Arcola. Today, the City of Arcola is rewriting that narrative. With women leading in key roles throughout government and public safety, Arcola is demonstrating what resilient, forward-thinking leadership achieves for its community.
Under the guidance of Mayor Williams, Arcola has prioritized modernization, community partnerships, and accountability—ensuring that progress is not just visible, but sustainable. Major initiatives currently underway include: (1) construction of a new Middle School; (2) development of a new Wellness Park and Community Center; (3) Reverie Ranch, a new 500-home subdivision; (4) and a number of Capital Improvement Projects throughout the City.
In addition to these projects, this administration has already achieved significant, visible, and sustainable improvements to public safety and community beautification initiatives, as well as massive investments in the City’s drainage, lift stations, water and wastewater expansion, and other infrastructure.
These leaders remain focused on building a culture where leadership is defined by collaboration and respect, not fear or hostility. Its leadership team encourages residents to stay engaged, support one another, and continue shaping a community that reflects fairness, opportunity, and unity.
The Business of the People is at the heart of this team of leaders, seeking to make Arcola a Destination City and
not just the detour to the next City.
