Laura Joyce Hogg, a cherished member of her community and a beloved family matriarch, passed away on November 9, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on December 29, 1943, Laura lived a life filled with love, compassion, and service to others. She was known for her beautiful personality and her unwavering faith as a dedicated woman of God.
For over 30 years, Laura served as an educator, impacting the lives of countless students with her wisdom and kindness. Her role as a teacher was only a part of her rich life; she was also a loyal friend, a peace maker, and a counselor, always ready to lend an ear or offer sound advice.
Laura’s family life was equally rewarding. She was married for 20 wonderful years to Wilbert Hogg, with whom she had a deep and lasting friendship that spanned 43 years. In addition to her role as a devoted wife, she embraced her identity as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend with pride and joy. Laura created a warm, loving environment for all who knew her, often gathering family and friends around her kitchen to share in her specialty dishes, particularly her renowned peach cobbler and chicken and dressing.
Her faith and commitment to the community were evident in her dedicated service and nurturing spirit. As a child of God, she inspired those around her and became a guiding light for many who crossed her path. She was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ for over 45 years.
Laura is survived by numerous family members and friends who will carry on her legacy of love and kindness.
Funeral services to honor Laura’s life will be held on November 22, 2025, at Remnant of Grace Ministries in Dallas, Texas, beginning at 11:00 AM. A wake service will precede the funeral on November 21, 2025, at Holy Trinity COGIC at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Laura Joyce Hogg will be remembered not only for her remarkable contributions to her family and community but also for the warmth and joy she spread throughout her life.
