Superb Woman: Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita Nyong’o was born on March 1, 1983, in Mexico City, Mexico, while her father was teaching there. She grew up in Kenya, where she attended St. Mary’s School in Nairobi, earning an International Baccalaureate Diploma. Later, she pursued higher education in the United States, earning a bachelor’s degree in Film and African Studies from Hampshire College in 2007. She further honed her craft with a Master of Fine Arts from the Yale School of Drama in 2012. Lupita’s breakthrough came with her Oscar-winning performance in 12 Years a Slave, and she’s since captivated audiences in Black Panther, Us, and The Woman King. Beyond acting, she’s an advocate for diversity and representation in Hollywood, and she continues to inspire with her powerful storytelling and activism.
