CAP-HAITIEN — In the days after an international community meeting held in France ended with members insisting on a Haitian-led solution to Haiti’s crises, several Haitian activists said they are fed up with these calls for a political accord to be reached.

Reasons for rejecting the calls vary, with some saying that Haiti has already reached a consensus and others arguing that a Haitian-led solution should not be instigated by the international community.

Pilate Voltaire, a member of political activism group Nou Konsyan, believes in a Haitian-led solution but thinks that if the international community oversees the process, that group will look out for its best interests and to control Haiti. He is skeptical about a possible Haitian-led solution because the international community is behind the scenes, he said.
